Background: |
Ah Tan, who was native to Tapah, has been working and living at
RKKKC since April 1997. Before working at RKKKC, he was jobless
for quite awhile and then his relative, who was a member of
the RKKKC Volunteers Committee, offered him a job as a children caretaker at RKKKC. Even
though his job as a caretaker is hard, he has already got used
to it. His rest day is Wednesday. |
Ah Tan's daily work routine:
- Wakes up at 6 every morning.

- Brings all the rubbish bags to the front gate.
- Brings all the children to the bathroom, take out their
clothes, and wait for the other caretakers to bath those
children who are not able to bath themselves.
- Dries the body of each child, and help them to put on clean
clothes.
- Washes the clothes, cleans up all the children rooms and
washrooms, and throws all the dirty pampers into the rubbish
bin.
- Takes breakfast at around 9am.
- Waits at the front porch of the house for any visitor to come
and visit. Usually visitors come to donate some food, daily
items, or money. He will write them a receipt for each donation.
- Takes a short rest if there is no visitor, and he usually
waits until 4pm.
- Brings all the children to the bathroom again and repeats the
work that he had done in the morning.
- Takes the children for dinner at around 6pm.
- Takes them to their own sleeping room at around 7.30pm.
- Continues other works and usually rests at 8pm.
